The people of the Yakama Nation have lived in the central Columbia River basin since time immemorial. Upon signing the Treaty with the United Unites states in June of 1855, 1.3 million acres were set aside for the use of the Yakama people, creating the Yakama Reservation. Yakama Nation Headquarters are located in Toppenish, Washington, placing them squarely in the heart of the Yakima Valley.
